Even though I have spent the majority of my career as a visual journalist my storytelling toolbox also includes a strong background in writing.
In my current role as Director of Marketing and Communications, I have been able to further hone my writing skills on some excellent projects. I am most proud of the Dispatch/Argus & Quad-City Times 'Stories of Honor" project. Over the last two years, I have been charged with the duty of doing veteran profiles of 8 local veterans, in addition to organizing and designing the annual Veterans' Day Special Sections. These kinds of stories are a perfect avenue for me to utilize my unique skillset especially when it comes to being a great listener. In a majority of cases, veterans are reluctant to tell their stories, but I am lucky enough to possess the ability to make them comfortable enough to trust me to tell their often difficult stories.
