One of my key goals when I took over the Dispatch/Argus photo department in March 2007 was to improve on the tradition of excellent photojournalism which had been at the core of the newspaper's history for over 100-years. A big part of meeting that goal was to develop the Dispatch/Argus into a force in the field of multimedia journalism.
Over the last five years my staff has produced some fabulous projects which can be viewed at QCOnline.com/multimedia. In 2008 the Dispatch/Argus photo staff was awarded 1st place Team Multimedia in the Illinois Press Photographer Association iPOYcontest. The winning entry was for our coverage of the Rock River flooding. Staff members Paul Colletti, Stephanie Makosky-Veto and myself have all won individual multimedia awards for a number of our other projects.
